The Latvian Symphony Orchestra conducted by Andris Poga performs works by Ivanovs and his pupil, Karlsons.
Written in 1945, Ivanovs' Symphony No 5 is still one of the best examples of Latvian symphonic writing. Karlsons, Ivanvovs' student, wrote his Music for Symphony Orchestra 1945 in 1985 as a commission from the state to celebrate the 40 year anniversary of the end of the War.
