Are the songs on this new double CD album musical letters between the brilliant siblings Fanny and Felix Mendelssohn?The two used to exchange many entertaining and poetic letters about their music. The elder sister was also her brother's closest advisor throughout his life.

Some of the songs recorded here are preceded by an improvised prelude, as was common until the early 20th century.

These arose spontaneously during the recording and some were retained to create the atmosphere of a live concert.
