Claudio Arrau was a virtuoso pianist with a large repertoire and a reputation for being one of the world�s hardest working artists, tirelessly traveling from continent to continent. Arrau was 66 when he made this recording of Johannes Brahms� Piano Concerto No. 2 in B flat major. After a powerful, incisive opening, Arrau piles up the tension with steely determination and ends the opening movement with triumphant trills. In the wild scherzo he kindles demonic fire; in the dreamy adagio he stokes sweet and magical sounds for his reverie.
