This album is a genuine sound feast for lovers of the trombone and brass instruments alike. It is also a journey back in time and an encounter with the Polish compositional school, exemplified here by its outstanding representative Kazimierz Serocki (19221981).

The compositions featured on the CD were written during the 1950s and 1970s, reflecting the main stylistic trends with which Serocki was fascinated at that time. The Concerto for trombone and orchestra (1953), the Suite for trombone quartet (1953) and the Sonatina for trombone and piano (1954) come from the period of the composer's neoclassical interests, which is reflected in their transparent structure and harmony.

In turn, the Swinging Music for clarinet, trombone, cello and piano (1970) and the Sonatina for trombone and orchestra (1974) are provided with a different sonic layer. In the 1970s, the composer already had rich experience in the field of tone colours and innovative experiments, which we hear in the presented works.

Performers on this recording: Wojciech Jelinski (trombone) and the Poznan Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Lukasz Borowicz, Sepia Ensemble Contemporary Musicians, Trombquartet and Tomasz Sosniak (piano).
