Blenda (1876) composed by Per August �lander, often regarded as both the crowning achievement and closing of the circle in �lander�s artistic development. Blenda portrays the legend of a Swedish heroine, who led the rural women of V�rend in an attack on the Danish army. Blenda demonstrates the depth and breadth of �lander�s musical talent, as well as a unique and culturally transcending eclecticism. The music is well entrenched within its own cultural context whilst at the same time displays a creative blend of other sources of inspiration.
