Ottawa Bach Choir; Lisette Canton - J.S. Bach: Six Motets

The newest recording by the Juno-Award winning Ottawa Bach Choir on the ATMA Classique label, features six Motets by J.S Bach: Singet dem Herrn, BWV 225; Der Geist hilft, BWV 226; Jesu, meine Freude, BWV 227; F�rchte dich nicht, BWV 228; Komm, Jesu, komm, BWV 229; and Lobet den Herrn, BWV 230. The choir is accompanied by an expanded baroque continuo, featuring Jonathan Oldengarm, organist; Matthew Larkin, harpsichord; Lucas Harris, theorbo; Jean-Christophe Lizotte, cello; and Reuven Rothman, double bass.

Founded in 2002 by Lisette Canton, the Ottawa Bach Choir performs music from all historical periods while keeping Bach's choral oeuvre as the focus of its repertoire.

Joining some of Canada's most accomplished artists and top choristers from the National Capital region and beyond, the choir has received national and international recognition.

Lisette Canton is a choral and orchestral conductor, vocal coach and technician, guest conductor, and early music specialist. She is the Founder and Artistic Director of the internationally acclaimed Ottawa Bach Choir, and is also Associate Professor and Head of Choral Music at York University in Toronto, where she is in charge of the graduate program in choral music.
