Suzanne Husson - Liszt:Bach Transcriptions

This is volume 39 of the complete solo piano music of Liszt. Between 1842 and 1850 he arranged the Six Preludes and Fugues BWV543-548 originally written for organ. He made minimal amendments but the fugues made exceptionally virtuosic demands on the performer. In the case of the Fantasie and Fugue in G minor, BWV542 he employed considerably more elaboration. Bach had previously worked in Weimar so it could be said that Liszt was paying homage to his eminent predecessor.
