This live recording from last year's Leh�r Festival in Bad Ischl brings together Alban Berg's Seven Early Songs, Richard Strauss's M�dchenblumenlieder, and Arnold Sch�nberg's Brettl-Lieder in a musico-dramatic overview of song artistry from the fin de si�cle. Our interpreters are the soprano Maya Boog and the pianist Michael Lakner, the director of the Leh�r Festival. Filled with scintillating and sultry sensuality (Berg and Strauss), the songs reflect fulfilled and unfulfilled yearnings and erotic desires in what are sometimes frivolous presentations (Sch�nberg) of cabaret design.
