Epoca Barocca - FASCH: Bassoon Sonata / 3 Quartets / 2 Trios / Canon

After its successful recordings of compositions by Heinichen and Schaffrath, Epoca Barocca now turns to baroque composer Johann Friedrich Fasch in a recording which spotlights his chamber music. Fasch was inspired by the chamber music of Telemann, and this influence is very apparent in these trios and 'sonatas a quadro' for oboe and bassoon, two instruments that had just begun to establish themselves throughout Europe at the time of writing. The music theoretician Johann Adolph Scheibe termed Fasch's quartets featuring oboes and bassoons \the ideal model of the genre.
