Maria Callas - The Complete Aria Collection 1946 - 1960

These 14 CDs present a portrait of the legendary soprano Mario Callas, and include several rarely heard live performances from opera houses around the world, as well as recordings from radio broadcasts. This compilation of recordings by Maria Callas is to date unique and presents rare items including 'Callas live at La Scala Milan', live recordings of her triumphant premieres, such as 'Macbeth', 'La Sonnambula', 'Medea', 'Lucia di Lammermoor', 'Norma' and 'La Traviata', and 'Callas live on Stage' at the opera houses in New York, Buenos Aires, Mexico City, Naples, Trieste, Florence, Berlin, Cologne and London. The set also has a section entitled 'In Concert' which features Callas performing in Rome San Remo, Milan, Athens, Hamburg, Amsterdam and London between 1952 and 1959. 'The Early Years in Italian Broadcast' presents Callas in Italian Radio recordings taken from 'Tristan and Isolde', 'Parsifal', and 'Don Giovanni' and her later successes as Norma, Lucia and Traviata. In addition there are arias from the of?cial studio albums as well as from studio recordings of complete operas.
