Various Artists - Animals in Classical Music

This 4CD compilation gathers together pieces that represent the world of the animal kingdom in music. Among them are Prokofiev's Peter And The Wolf, Sibelius's Swan Of Tuonela, and Saint-Sa�ns ever-popular Carnival Of The Animals. These wonderful works are here interpreted by some of the greatest orchestras, soloists and conductors of recent decades, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Royal Philharmonic, Herbert von Karajan, Ferenc Fricsay, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, G�rard Souzay, Artur Rubinstein, Clara Haskil, and Sviatoslav Richter.

Amongst other pieces featured in the set are the Pr�lude � l'apr�s-midi d'un faune, Schubert's Trout Quintet, Stravinsky's Song Of The Nightingale, Tchaikovsky's ballet music Swan lake, and Rimsky-Korsakov's Flight of the Bumble bee.
