For 'Change of Heart - The Songs of Andr Previn', crooner Michael Feinstein assembled a collection of Previn compositions and invited him to play. Bassist David Finck is the only other accompanist in this beautiful, intimate album.
Of course we all recognise Andr Previn as a highly accomplished conductor and jazz pianist, but not everyone is aware of how prolific a song writer he was. This despite the fact that his songs have been recorded by Doris Day, Sammy Davis Jr., Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra and Barbra Streisand to name a few. Previn actually began his musical career accompanying films on piano at movie houses in the early 1930's. By the age of 14, he worked at MGM Studios orchestrating and arranging film music which ultimately led him to writing music. It was when he was conducting one of his film scores (The Sun Comes Up, 1949) that he realised leading orchestras would be his future.
